Since our humble beginnings, Songkick’s main goal has been to make sure that you never miss a gig again.
However, as we’ve grown, we’ve become a catalogue of music events all over the world - with some events dating back to the 1960s! This means that some of the artists in our database are no longer alive or active. We like to keep their artist pages available so that users can go back and mark ‘I was there’ on events that occurred in the past. Over time, your Songkick account can become a digital diary of your gig history - a gigography, if you will!
Why does Songkick list deceased artists?
